You've Made Me So Very Happy / The Hungry Years - Shirley Bassey (1976 Recordings) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Nov 04, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
1976 (Here are two excellent tracks from Shirley Bassey's 1976 LP titled, 'Love, Life, and Feelings. The first song is cover of the 'Blood Sweat and Tears' hit, 'You Made Me So Very Happy; Shirley's arrangement on this track is somewhere between a ballad and mellow POP, with a sexy, rich vibrato thrown in. The second song is a Neil Sedaka/Howard Greenfield ballad called, 'The Hungry Years. Bassey has the vocal pipes to sing a song anyway either she wants, OR how the producers want her to sing. Most of the songs on this LP represent the mellow, beautiful sounds of Ms. Bassey at her very best.

LYRICS - You've Made Me So Very Happy:
I lost at love before
Got mad and closed the door
But you said try...just once more

I chose you for the one
Now we're havin' so much fun
You treated me so kind
I'm about to lose my mind

You made me so...very happy
I'm so glad you
Came into my life

The others were untrue
But when it came to lovin' you
I'd spend my whole life with you
Cause you came and you took control
You touch my very soul
You always showed me that
Lovin' you is where it's at
You made me so...very happy
I'm so glad you
Came into my life

Thank you baby
Yeah-yeah-ah

I love you so much you see
You're even in my dreams
I can hear you
I can hear you callin' me
I'm so in love with you
All I ever want to do is
Thank you baby
Thank you baby (BREAK)

You made me so...very happy
I'm so glad you...came into my life
You made me so...very happy
You made me so...so very happy baby
I'm so glad you came
Into my-y life

LYRICS - The Hungry Years:
We made it to the top
We went so high we couldn't stop
We climbed the ladder leading us nowhere
Two of us together, building castles in the air
We spun so fast we couldn't tell
The gold ring from the carousel
How could we know the ride would turn out bad
Everything we wanted, was everything we had

I miss the hungry years, The once upon a time
The lovely long ago, We didn't have a dime
Those days of me and you, We lost along the way
How could I be so blind, Not to see the door
Closing on the world, I now hunger for
Looking through my tears-ears, I miss the hungry years

We shared our daydreams one by one
Making plans was so much fun
We set our goals and reached the highest star
Things that we were after, were much better from afar
Here we stand just me and you
With everything and nothing too
It wasn't worth the price we had to pay
Honey, take me home, let's go back to yesterday

I miss the hungry years, The once upon a tiime
The lovely long ago, We didn't have a dime
Those days of me and you, We lost along the way
How could I be so bliind, Not to see the door
Closing on the world, I now hunger for
Looking through my tears, I miss the hungry years
I miss the hungry years
