A Touch of Magic - The Story of James Leroy and Denim (2013) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Apr 08, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
This video is a short documentary about the band James Leroy and Denim. In the early 70's they rose to some brief fame in Canada with hits like, "Touch of Magic" and "You Look Good in Denim". This documentary, primarily composed of an interview with band member Gary Comeau, tells the story of how the band came together and the songs that made them famous.

Background:
In 2004 a local Ottawa musician named Richard Patterson (The Esquires, 3's a Crowd) told me of his connections with the band James Leroy and Denim. This conversation led to a meeting with Harvey Glatt, one-time manager of Denim. Harvey was kind enough to share his Denim archives with me. His collection of photos, posters and press clippings led me to create a tribute site, jamesleroy.com. The site is a place to remember the musicians whose music had been part of our lives growing up in Canada in the seventies.

Creating the site put me in contact with many of the fans, friends and family of the members of James Leroy and Denim. Over the years people have been kind enough to share their stories, music and memories with me on the site. One of the people who I came into contact with was Gary Comeau, the main steel-guitarist for Denim. I talked with Gary off and on about putting together a short video documentary to tell the story of Denim. While it took me a few years to get around to doing it, I've finally finished it. I hope you enjoy it.
