The Dead Parrots Society -- April in Your Hair 1991 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jul 25, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
From our 1st LP "Music of a Bygone Age", 1991. Our music continues to be unknown outside of Record Collectors' circles, but our decision to go with vinyl, and to feature John Strudwick's beautiful paintings on both sleeves, has enabled our voices to be heard for two decades. If one cannot achieve popular or commercial success, it's at least something to see both albums still exchanging hands for up to $300 each. Crazy! Strange thing the music business.

"The Dead Parrots Society" is not a name often typed into You Tube search, but to have any sort of 'presence' is nice. Hence these video uploads. I was unable to use photos of other members of our band in any of the videos. So, it's just me. Sorry about that.

We are not connected to the American comedy group - also called The Dead Parrots Society - who were formed in 1998. We are just wandering musicians from Walthamstow, London. In 1991, I asked a cleaning lady if she had seen a film called "The Dead Poets Society". She thought I had said "The Dead Parrots Society" ... and our name was born

Lyrics

April in Your Hair Written: April 1989 Recorded: 1991

You came with April in your hair
You smiled a smile beyond compare
You touched me, and time stood still
You made me follow you, Bodil

You came with April in your heart
You drugged me from the very start
You conquered me against my will
You made me want you so, Bodil

Singing your song
Making me strong
Now I belong
Weaving your spell
Making me well
Now I excell

A sip of psychedelic tea
A night of love and ecstacy
You made the day seem so unreal
You made me stay with you, Bodil

You came with April in your eyes
A look so innocent but wise
You held the cup, I took my fill
You made me love you so, Bodil

Singing your song
Making me strong
Now I belong
Weaving your spell
Making me well
Now I excell

You came with April in your hair
You smiled a smile beyond compare
You touched me and time stood still
You made me follow you, Bodil
