PUBLISHED:  Jan 09, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
Rock N' Roll was being born in the 1950's, and part of the music
was being created in Inwood, Washington Heights, and Morningside Heights
In the upper section of Manhattan of NYC, by young talented artist and singing groups.
Teenage kids who just wanted to make a hit record, and succeeded in doing so.

Such young artist as Frankie Lymon And The Teenagers, Kenny Rankin, George Carlin, Tiny Tim,The Ronettes, The Chevrons, Terry Cashman, The Spirals, Tony And The Holidays, and The Standards just to name a few.

D J Allan Freed of 1010 Wins fame who would coined the phrase (Rock N' Roll) at the time of the birth of this new and exciting music during the 1950's, and the teenagers would refer to this music as Doo Wop.
Allan Freed would later dub Washington Heights (Doo Wop Central)

This is what this video is all about, the making of music, Doo Wop by a young
Talented new generation of kids from all over this country, who contributed
Their unique artistry to the beginning of a new and exciting sound of Doo Wop
In a simplistic Lyrical form expressing the true feelings of the young generation of teenagers at the time.
Making and Enjoying this music they called (Rock N' Roll) you could hear on every street corner, neighborhood, through out this country of ours, and gave birth to the Music sound heard through out the world..

I made this video in memorial to those talented teenage artist friends I met and got to know
Along the way growing up in Inwood, Washington Heights, and Morningside Heights, in NYC during the 1950's.
Who have since passed on Frankie Lymon, Kenny Rankin, George Carlin, Tiny Tim, Marty Trautman of The Chevrons, and Larry Rizzo of The Spirals, Tony And The Holidays, And The Standards.
You never forget the neighborhood kids you grew up with!
May they all Rest In Peace.

Yours Sincerely,
Raul (Al) Conde
