Music video for Utopia, 6th track from the cd Voices of Life.

Just had to bring this song, it was nowhere to be found in youtube or elsewhere! Some rare treasures are still being well hidden ;)

This has been my favourite song for more than 14 years, and for 14 years I've searched the lyrics, but only found them yesterday on a forum. Here's what I found:

"OK... been able to drum up the lyrics for "Utopia." The words were written by Eddie in collaboration with a Professor of Balkan Poetry from Boston University. The idea was to create authentic-sounding ancient Bulgarian poetry that was singable.

The Bulgarian words are:

Utopia, izmislena
otdavna, izlinia.
Duha choveshki naddelia.

Zviar dushite rufashe,
sulzite ni pieshe.
No doide mu red da mre.

Nadezhdata tzafti i rasi
sementona na svobodata.
Gledai kak se razhda prolet
ot dulgata i tamna zima.

Utopia, izmislena
otdavna, izlinia.
Duha choveshki naddelia.


Rough transliteration of the original poem:

A utopia once imagined,
now turned to grey.
Yet still, the human spirit prevails through the generations.

The beast was feeding on our souls
though it was slowly dying before our eyes.
So sad, the loss of time and blood
so small men may wield their might with cold authority.

From the long, dark Winter
behold the birth of Spring.
Renewal abounds as the flower of hope
sets down the seeds of liberty.

A utopia once imagined,
now turned to grey.
