Irish folk: O'Carolan's Lament, on bouzouki - Video
PUBLISHED:  Feb 20, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
This is a slow air in waltz time from O'Neill's Music Of Ireland ("The 1850s"), where it is #69. The title suggests it is a tune by Turlough Carolan, but it probably isn't. O'Neill attributes lots of tunes to Carolan that do not appear in more thoroughly researched editions of Carolan's work, but even he does not list Carolan as the author of this tune. Notwithstanding this, this is a very nice air and well worth playing.

I've recorded it twice, once on my 1921 Gibson Ajr mandolin (posted separately), and again on my long-scale Troubadour Lionheart bouzouki (this video).

For the Mandolin Cafe Song-A-Week Social Group, Week #95.
