Havasi - Lacrimosa (Piano Solo) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Nov 23, 2013
DESCRIPTION:
Havasi is a Hungarian pianist and composer of contemporary classical music. "Lacrimosa" is his first composition that I encountered and it immediately won my heart. It was the most wonderful piece of music I had heard in a long time. I'm speaking about the full orchestral version with a huge choir, haunting solo vocals, and epic taiko and rock drums. These are in fact the three elements that make Havasi's compositions so different from other classical compositions.

After I had listened to almost all of Havasi's music, "Lacrimosa" remained my favorite one and I really craved to be able to play at least the piano part myself. The product of many hours of painstaking transcription of the music was sheet music I could learn to play the piece from. Later, when I attended Havasi's concert (featuring over 150 artists) in Budapest, hearing "Lacrimosa" live created most likely the most intense emotions in my life.

Unsurprisingly, I have enjoyed playing this piece the most (among those I can play on the piano) for a couple of months now, so I decided to share my performance with you, hoping it will bring up at least a sample of the emotions I experienced at the concert. Don't forget to watch the original orchestral version too; but please, do so after you've watched my piano performance.. :)

Consider my piano performance a tribute to the wonderful art Havasi has been creating for about a decade now and a demonstration of my love for this piece in particular. Thank you for reading this far, you're amazing! ;)

Enjoy the music and live with passion!
