After their first album, Handwriting, Rachel's did a more return to general classical influences with Music For Egon Schiele. Gone were Jason Noble's tape loops and general darkness, a wonderful addition to the neoclassical genre. The Sea And The Bells brings back the loops, the silences, and the somber and uneasy tones of Handwriting in spades. Tracks 1-7 are filled with lovely, somber melodies, and peppered here and there are occasional sounds and noises that make you go "what was that about?" It comes to a head on track 8, the album fully steeped in darkness, before letting up with the absolutely beautiful "His Eyes."
