DESCRIPTION:
Ottawa-based trio MonkeyJunk are Canada’s most acclaimed blues/roots music band, with a sound that has been described as a “contemporary blend of swamp R&B, soul boogie and bedroom funk.”

Here they talk about their five album relationship with Stony Plain Records, how it was that they came to be wooed by Holger Petersen, about whom vocalist Steve Marriner says "I can't think of a nicer human being in the music industry, or more honest one." Drummer Matt Sobb says about the music Stony Plain has put out, "It's all great, the quality of the music involved in 40 years, from the first one to the most recent one." Guitarist Tony D recalls buying a John Hammond release (now out of license) which Stony Plain put out in 1994.

MonkeyJunk released their fifth album "Time To Roll" with Stony Plain Records on 4 November 2016.
