DESCRIPTION:
I have long loved the delicate beauty of this mesmerizing piece by Ralph Zurmühle, which appears on his 2007 album, "Our Mother." While none of the 881 measures were in and of themselves challenging from a technical standpoint, trying to play all 881 in a row without a skipped note, uneven tempo, or other mistake was an entirely different matter. Other challenges included not being able to memorize the entire piece or spread out the sheet music on my music desk (my usual standby), which meant having to contend with page changes, and having to play extended passages with my right hand crossed over into bass territory.

This is the piece I listen to and play when I need to find that quiet center, both within myself and the universe. I hope you enjoy it. Please visit Zurmuhle's website for more information about his music and albums; I recommend all of them highly: www.ralphpiano.com
