By the end of 2005, guitar freaks Joeri and Tim teamed up to form Daybreak. Both had just left their previous bands and wanted to try something new. With their different backgrounds - the first being a Tool-influenced technician and the latter breathing hardcore from the likes of Ignite and Snapcase - they wanted to find out if there would be any chemistry when playing together. Soon after some satisfying first rehearsals, a bass player was found in Nick and the threesome wrote the first two Daybreak songs. The drum spot was then filled by a genuine rocker: Gerben, the older songs steadily grew and new ones were added. After a couple of months, the hunt was open for a singer: in the spring of 2006, Steven (former front man of Ale) completed the band.

Months of composing and rehearsing passed by and in October 2006, the band considered the time was right to show the public what they were up to. Daybreak did a few test gigs and the feedback was better than expected.

Early 2007, recording plans for a first 3-song EP were made. Well-prepared, the band went to famous hardcore recording studio 'De Studio' in the Belgian town of Asse. There, producer Dirk built up a wealth of experience working with well-known bands such as The Set-Up, Do Or Die, Deviate and even Janez Detd.

The result from Daybreak's April recording sessions is a stunning 3-song EP containing the band's oldest song 'Insanity'. Already being a welcome guest on local stages, the band insisted on doing this first release to attract even more attention from concert promoters in the whole of Belgium!

And the band has a lot to offer. Each of the members having a totally different background, both as persons and as musicians (from jazz over funk to hardcore), this blend of inputs resulted in the sound of daybreak. It is hard to clearly define what the band sounds like and what bands it can be compared with. But hey, isn't that what the majority of all musicians are after? And isn't that what you have to find out for yourself?

It is!
