Soulcrate - Stoic (Official Video) - Video

DESCRIPTION:
It's weird what kind of honesty and emotion will come out of you if you just let your guard down and be in the moment with your thoughts. I didn't plan on writing a song that sounded like this, it's just what came out. I knew what I wanted to say, but it took me almost a year to write and piece it all together.
This was produced by a guy from Melbourne, Australia, named Brent McDonald, who I've never even met before. I instantly fell in love with the music and I knew that I had to write to it. It's crazy to think we collaborated from over 9000 miles away from each other.
The lyrics for this song were inspired by and popular Native American parable called Two Wolves. The theme and meaning of this story really stuck with me, especially in the current time we're living in.
The summarized version of the story goes like this:
We all have two wolves inside of us that are at constant war with each other.
One is evil - he is anger, envy, regret, greed, arrogance, guilt, resentment, lies, superiority, and ego.
One is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness, empathy, generosity, truth, and compassion.
We are in control of which wolf wins the battle. The wolf that wins, is the wolf that we choose to feed.
This song is a bit of a departure for me. I wanted to try something different and thankfully I had the help of Dylan West to pull it out of me, and Corey Gerlach to help polish it up. One rainy day a few months ago, without much of a plan, Joe Hubers, Isaac Show, and I went out and shot this video. Isaac has spent the past week, frame by frame, doing all the drawing and animations in it.
Im proud of this song. I hope you enjoy it. Come see us perform it on September 17th at That Sounds Decent 2016.
