Mal Pope & Elton John - How It Hurts (2000/1977) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Sep 28, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
Mal Pope recording from 2000 with Elton John baking vocals recorded in 1977.
In 1977 Maldwyn Pope was a teenage singer from Wales and after appearing on the John Peel show on BBC Radio had been signed to Elton John's "Rocket Records" and recorded a few songs, two of which had backing vocals by Elton himself. One of the songs became a B-side ("If I Wasn't There") but nothing much more became of the recordings. In 2000 Mal Pope (as he calls himself now) made a record called "Golden Days" and on the CD single he included new recordings of these two tracks. Now with new vocal from Mal. So here you have 1977 backing vocal by Elton John and 2000 vocal by Mal Pope.
