It's time for another Backing Track video! In this video, I'll perform for you a recent song I wrote entitled "Smoove Groove." Like some of my other songs, it's based on the main riff of the song which starts at the beginning.

Most of the time when I write an instrumental it tends to be based on a lick or riff I hear in my head that I just can't stop thinking about. Eventually, it compels me to write a song incorporating it and what you see in "Smoove Groove" is a prime example.

As usual, I'm using my Ibanez RG4EX1 as well as my Digitech RP355 on the "Analog" preset for the lead guitar & effects. I edited the video in iMovie 11. The audio was recorded using GarageBand, and I used various drum loops for the beat. I played the bass part through my guitar using a bass guitar effect in my Digitech RP355. And the synthesizer/strings you hear toward the middle of the guitar was played on my computer keyboard (I don't have a midi keyboard) using a midi modeled strings sound.

I decided not to get to fancy this go round, so it only took about 2 weeks from start to finish.
