Every year, more and more talented artists are emerging in the music industry. In 2011, the competition is fierce and artists from all around the world are fighting to be heard. In order to catch someone's eye in the industry these days you need to be the best-of-the-bestperiod. Well, Im proud to announce that Slanted Black Records along with Upsetta Records have found that gem everyone is looking for. Welcome Marcus Braveboy, a.k.a Mark Hardy, an extremely talented 25 year old singer/songwriter from Trinidad and Tobago who is hitting the music industry by storm! The top music blogs from all around the world have been showcasing Marks workthe buzz hes been generating is unreal. It seems like everything he puts his voice to instantly turns into a hit. Versatility and originality seem to be Marks greatest selling points.

Every time he drops a new release, it sounds like a totally different person from his previous tracks. Undoubtedly, Mark has been given a gift and we are truly grateful that he has chosen to share it with us all. Mark has being recording music since the age of 15 and calls his style "Ragga Fusion", which is a blend of 'chanting' (Caribbean version of rapping) and many different genres of music. After taking a 4 year hiatus from the music industry to pursue a law degree, Mark has made his return and is pumped to make an international impact promoting his unique style. His single "Lyrical Apology" which was produced by hit making Trinidad and Tobago producer Giandre Diaz a.k.a The Phoenix, recently won the title of "Fresh Song Of The Year 2010" on Heartstopper 91.3 FM in Newark Delaware, which really was an achievement since Mark was the only foreign artist nominated in the category. Mark, also just released his music video for his remix to Miguel and J.Cole's "All I Want Is You" and is currently working on a mixtape entitled "W.Y.S.I.W.Y.G" (What You See Is What You Get") which is due before summer 2011. He also released remixes to Fly East Movement's "Like A G6" and Bruno Mars "Just The Way You Are" and just wrapped up a collaboration with the up and coming singing phenom Collin McLoughlin to a remix of Tinie Tempah's "Pass Out". His single "Turn it up" on the Jungle X Riddim has also been generating a ton of buzz on the college music circuit, which may very well be the crossover club anthem to break him into the U.S Market.

The track was produced by Trinidad and Tobago music producer Giandre diaz of Burnings Bush Studios and its one of the songs on the Jungle X Riddim. In the Caribbean, a riddim is an instrumental shared by various artists. Riddims became popular in Jamaica when many artists couldn't afford production, so producers would allow several artists to use the same beat/instrumental for a small fee while the producer maintains ownership of the master. Trying to make a club anthem like "Turn it up" was a challenge for myself. Even though I party and hit the clubs a lot, most of my songs at the time dealt with relationships and break ups. However, I had a blast making Turn it up--my producer and his girlfriend were giving me tequila shots before I went into the booth so I could get vibes. Marks main goal as an artist is to represent his country internationally with great music and to be as versatile as he can as an artist, while staying true to himself. He doesnt believe in limiting himself as an artist and is open to collaborating with artists in any genre. Mark loves to experiment with different sounds in music and is always up for a challenge. Inevitably, his dream is to have his genre of "ragga fusion" internationally accepted. The way he has been turning heads in the music industry, his dream is quickly becoming a reality. So get ready because 2011 is going to feel its first heatwave! There will be a dual release of Marks "Turn it Up" with various remixes on both Slanted Black & and Upsetta Records--coming soon, including this one from blossoming remixer/dj THEORY.
