Gary U.S. Bonds - SEVEN DAY WEEKEND - Stereo! 1962 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Mar 21, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
With the Church Street Five: Earl Swanson, Gene "Daddy G" Barge (saxophone); Leonard Barks (trombone); Willie Burnell (piano); Ron "Junior" Fairley (bass); Emmett "Nabs" Shields (drums), and the Jive Five on background vocals.

This was in stereo by chance, not purposely. Engineer Frank Guido recorded by bouncing from a mono machine to a stereo machine back to a mono machine to a stereo machine and back to a mono machine again while overdubbing because he happened to have a stereo machine.

If the song "ended" on the mono machine, the master was in mono. If the song "ended" on the stereo machine, the master was stereo (by accident). This one's production ended on the stereo machine. When Columbia cut the 45's, they used whatever tape was "final", played back on a full track machine.

In some of this video, Gary has the Jive Five dancing behind him but he was actually filmed in England & they were filmed in New York City, and superimposed. http://www.ModCollectibles.com
