DESCRIPTION:
The Serfs were an amazing multi-racial band from Kansas, who played a wild blend of soul, rock and jazz and who released just the one LP - EARLY BIRD CAFE - on Capitol in 1969.

Apparently, a few of the members also performed on Hendrix's Electric Ladyland LP.

Their extended version of the Spencer Davis cut, I'm A Man, is perhaps my favourite ever take on this oft-covered gem, morphing as it does halfway though into Bo Diddley's monster of the same name, and I was astounded to find it wasn't yet up on YouTube.
