III. FUTURIST CITIES
As life becomes increasingly urbanized, early 20th century visions of futurist cities (LeCorbusier, Fritz Lang, and others) seem nearly quaint. The obsession with utopian and dystopian civilization continues today, from South Korean plans for a "leisure city" to science fiction matte paintings and video games. These imaginations typically accommodate massive populations, rarely questioning our society's fascination with and dependence upon perpetual growth.

ABOUT THE VIDEO
CURRENT EVENTS is a presentation of live music and electro-acoustic structured improvisation to five new electrifying motion picture montages exploring the Flight AF447 disaster, Drone Warfare, Futurist Cities, Polar Ice Caps, and the Desert.
This video is a collage or montage edited by Jack Curtis Dubowsky using "found footage" from YouTube. This is our first video to be constructed in this fashion. This type of montage follows in the footsteps of Sheffield Industrial artists Cabaret Voltaire, and other collagists such as Paul D. Miller, Kurt Schwitters, and Dada movement practitioners.
JCDE has presented programs of live music to experimental film, including Submerged Queer Spaces at the National Queer Arts Festival in 2010, and programs at Artist Television Access, including the work of Jean Genet and Samara Halperin.
