Scars was written by legendary American Beat Generation lyricist Fran Landesman (Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most and Ballad Of The Sad Young Men) and British composer, who met every week for almost twenty years to write songs until Fran's death in 2011 at age 83. First recorded by Nicki Leighton-Thomas, also recorded by Ian Shaw, Susannah McCorkle and Carol Grimes, performed by Mary Foster Conchlin and Anna Blair and most recently recorded Sarah Moule on her album Songs From The Floating World. Perfomed live and filmed by Robert Chilcott. Fran's lyrics have been recorded by many of the classic jazz singers: Ella Fitzgerald, Mark Murphy, Betty Carter, June Christy, Chris Connor, Irene Krall, Julie London, Carmen McRae, Jane Monheit, Bette Midler, Barbra Streisand, Sarah Vaughan...
