Yo! Follow our progress collecting all of the hard to find UGK material: https://undergroundkingz.org/release/ugk-the-southern-way-cassette/
The Southern Way is the debut EP from the Underground Kingz, released as a 6 song cassette through Bigtyme Recordz in February of 1992. Before the year’s end UGK went on to sign a 5 album deal with Jive and converted this music into their initial full length album, Too Hard To Swallow.
For the Too Hard To Swallow release, Jive either couldn’t or wouldn’t clear the samples used throughout The Southern Way and so the only track to appear in it’s original form there was Short Texas. With that said, if you’re only familiar with the Jive release you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the subtle differences in these original Pimp C produced tracks.
You can read Pimp discussing this situation in an interview here: http://www.cocaineblunts.com/blunts/?p=744
