The Lady's in Love With You - Shirley Ross & Bob Hope, w/ Gene Krupa (from "Some Like It Hot") - Video
PUBLISHED:  Dec 28, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
From 1939's "Some Like It Hot" (aka "Rhythm Romance"), w/ music by Burton Lane & lyrics by Frank Loesser (following hot on the heels of the Loesser-penned Ross/Hope hit, "Two Sleepy People," w/ music by Hoagy Carmichael, from Paramount's pre-Christmas 1938 release, "Thanks for the Memory," itself an attempt to cash in on the ENORMOUS Ross/Hope hit of the same name, from the 1937-filmed "Big Broadcast of 1938"). Paramount, both anxious 2 capitalize on the undeniably appealing screen couple's enormous early success & yet cognizant of the already diminishing returns accruing 2 said couple (tho, in retrospect, the lion's share of blame 4 this state of affairs might more properly be ascribed 2 the shoddy & threadbare nature of the vehicles assigned the putative up-&-comers), rushed this film (obviously NOT the much more famous Marilyn Monroe vehicle of the same name, which would debut some 20 years later & forever thereafter lay claim 2 this film's erstwhile title) into production even as its predecessor was debuting B4 holiday moviegoers in December 1938.
