Yuri Kasparov (Юрий Сергеевич Каспаров, 1955--), Reminiscence, for piano, prepared piano and live-electronics

Mikhail Dubov, piano

"The composition 'Reminiscence' was written for piano and live-electronics. It was used 9 sampled timbres of the prepared piano which organised in two groups of that: the first group is the group of timbres with clear attack and quick fading out, the second one is the group of timbres with no attack and no fading out. The electronic part (or tape) consists of 14 fragments, which are switched on by sound-operator during the recital.
In this composition it was used the strict constructive system in such a way that the different phases of the score would sound both as a self-sufficient mechanical construction and as a normal human music. On a level of the whole form the self-sufficient mechanical episodes are the stable elements and the human music is the unstable one. At the figurative and philosophical level the soloist symbolises a man and the electronic part the surrounded world, which may be hostile or tolerant towards the man. There is deep kinship between piano and electronic part if we speak about timbres. But the electronic part actualises various aspects of the world and the piano is a bearer of the only image."
