TEXT:
Prevenient Grace
A Sonnet by Stan Graham

Prevenient grace from blest heaven flows
unending, the Fount of Life its sole source,
and through convenants sacred finds its course,
descending, red, to waiting, porous souls.
Through its descent the weight of mercy grows
and by its gravity compels remorse
in hearts forever changed and filled by force
of love; seeds of which The Cross wond'rous sows.
Seeds of love unfeigned from the tree of life fall;
from His hands, His feet they condescend
planted in His saints, their flesh, blood and bone.
With grace the sacred seeds grow, without strife
into yolks lightly borne, the veil to rend,
'til to His presence they ascend, their home.
