X-Machine is the present nom de guerre of Las Vegas d.j., producer, and patron to the music arts, Stephen P. Christmas. Born in London, U.K., in 1981, Christmas moved to the U.S. with his family and at sixteen fell deeply in love with all things electronic music. Raised on the eclectic grooves of New York City’s Solid State Radio, Stephen’s taste gravitated toward the pioneering sounds of what today is called Tech-funk or Tech-house.
From the frying pan of the electronic music scene of NYC, Christmas moved into the fire that was Detroit’s explosive Techno community. Christmas immersed himself in all aspects of the creative hotbed of the Detroit music industry. Employed as purchasing agent for Analogic Records and managing peer talent by day, at night Christmas produced club parties and underground concerts while still prolifically dj’ing at all range of venues in Detroit, Ann Arbor, and in Canada. Holding residency at nightclubs Xcess, Backstreet, and Coyote Ugly, Christmas has played these and special events with a diverse group of world-recognized artists such as Matthew Dear, The Crystal Method, Mark Oliver, DJ M!keAttack, Ryan Elliot, and Magda, and was an invited artist at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival, & most recently a showcased artist at Winter Music Conference '09 in Miami.
In 2005, Christmas relocated to his present home of Las Vegas and soon pioneered a club night in the heart of the city at Club Aruba. Aruba was envisioned to truly showcase the sounds of the underground. A group of dedicated DJ’s from places as diverse as Seattle, Phoenix, Denver, New Jersey, and Detroit began to appear as a steady roster, and the Aruba became known as the place djs would go to hear djs. This latest grassroots effort born of a shared love of music, has re-birthed Stephen Christmas, aka DJ XMS, aka X-Machine’s respect for the power of electronic music to stir our emotions, and connect us together in dance. With his contagious positivity, pioneering musical direction, and a clear message of “inclusiveness,” he is undeniably a rising star in the electronic music universe.
