DESCRIPTION:
Here's another song from the upcoming Glockenspiel / Ukulele record, although this is just me playing it on piano and the version on the record is played on guitar in another key with lots of strange sounds added and, of course, glockenspiel and ukulele.
Greg Sirota directed the video. Thank you, Greg! Tim Mooney recorded it at Closer Studios in San Francisco, November 2010. Thank you, Tim!
I refer to my playing technique here, by the way, as "folk piano" Here it is then:
THE SONG OF A FOOL IN LOVE
Love, please don't make a fool of me
Love, please don't make a fool of me
I will learn from the past, but I won't live in it
And if the current changes, I will move with it
I will pay attention, but I"ll cut some slack
And if I don't get what I want, I won't try to take the whole thing back
Love, please don't make a fool of me
Love, please don't make a fool of me
If it's a matter of space, I'll be as big as the land
If it's a matter of making a point, I'll try just to understand
I will not obsess, but I won't pretend to ignore it
I'll just let it be, but I"ll try to be there for it
Oh love, please don't make a fool of me
Love, please don't make a fool of me
And that's the song of a fool
That's the song of a fool
That's the song of a fool
That's the song of a fool in love
I will speak my mind, but I'll do it with kindness
And if it's something that can't be helped, I will cultivate blindness
I will own my faults, I will take my own measure
I will put away greed, but what's given freely I'll learn how best to treasure
Oh love, please don't make a fool of me
Love, please don't make a fool of me
Even standing naked, I will ask for grace
I will read the air, I will study the face
I will kneel me down, but I'll stand so proud
And the story that's told by you to my soul
I will teach my tongue to speak aloud
Oh love, please don't make a fool of me
Love, please don't make a fool of me
And that's the song of a fool
That's the song of a fool
That's the song of a fool
That's the song of a fool
That's the song of a fool
That's the prayer of a fool
That's the prayer of a fool
That's the prayer of a fool
That's the song of a fool in love
