a quick bit about JOHN CALE
John Cale's footprints are stamped all over the last four decades of musical history. Classical, Avant Garde, Post-Modern, Alternative, Proto-Punk, Noisy Sonic Experiments, Goth and even an occasional simple melody in 4/4 time! Through co-founding the Velvet Underground, the music he has made as a Solo Artist, and a mind-boggling array of collaborations, he has amassed a deserved reputation as a pioneering, deeply influential presence. Moreover, his horizons continue to extend nudging his music into invigoratingly fresh territory. He's worked as a producer, musician, arranger, writer on some of the most pivotal records in the rock canon - everything from Nico, The Stooges, Nick Drake, Patti Smith, Siouxsie And The Banshees to The Happy Mondays, Ambulance Ltd and LCD Soundsystem to name but a small fraction (there's even a Disco record, but that's for another time). At this point, Cale could be forgiven for kicking back but laurel resting isnt in the picture and the super-fit squash fanatic's energy levels are those of a man half his age; as is his antennae for the cutting edge in contemporary music. John Cale's current creative output keeps him forever teetering over the cutting edge. His footprints may be stamped all over the past - but unlike so many of his peers, his paths cleary extend into the future. Next chapter coming soon
