Note from Peter:

I wrote this song (alongside Karen Kosowski and Sophie Delila) originally with one person in mind, but it has come to bring up so many people in my heart every time I sing it.  From watching the people I love get sick and pass away, to working with young people struggling to find their place in the world, to watching friends struggle under the weight of life, that feeling of wanting to bear the burden for someone you love is a recurring one in me. The timing of this video feels just right for me at this point in my life, sometimes the art is one step ahead.

Note from Director Christopher Mills:

PETER KATZ - LAY IT ON ME casts flowers as the kind of feelings that come with navigating the sometimes bumpy road of relationships.

Sometimes falling into one another - sometimes breathing next to one another, sometimes neglected, and sometimes completely shattered, the flowers play out the role of the fragile importance of communicating with one another when we are vulnerable.

For anyone who might be suffering from Depression, or Anxiety, or Loss in their lives, remember the Friends who have said, LAY IT ON ME to you.

Yours Truly,

Millsburger.

LYRICS:

Lay It On Me (words and music by Peter Katz, Karen Kosowski and Sophie Delila)

Every day you counted on that never added up
Every voice that’s telling you that you’ll never be enough
Every lie and every thing you wish you’d never done

Lay it on me

‘Cause I would rather take your pain
Than to watch you hurting
I would rather take your pain
Than to watch you hurting

When you lock the doors up and there’s no more getting in
When you’re in the water and forgotten how to swim
When your hands they get too heavy,
I will take the weight you’re carrying

Lay it on me

‘Cause I would rather take your pain
Than to watch you hurting
I would rather take your pain
Than to watch you hurting

When the bombs are falling and you need someone to blame

Lay it on me

‘Cause I would rather take your pain
Than to watch you hurting
I would rather take your pain
Than to watch you hurting
