DESCRIPTION:
The video of the instrumental version of Orouni’s “Kalimbalism” was shot entirely in Paris, in stop-motion. It presents over 40 places whose architectural or decorative style seems to be non French: a Chinese pagoda, an Indian temple, Turkish baths, Russian orthodox onion domes… It is as if the City of Lights had absorbed these numerous foreign influences, just as the song’s protagonist, who, in a country that isn’t his own, devours as much as he can for lack of being able to take pictures. As this video is composed of several hundreds of photographs, the traveller is now avenged. This “small tour” inside Paris follows the Grand Tour album, in which every song is devoted to one destination. Besides, Orouni brought back instruments from a series of trips to create of the record’s arrangements. But why travel if the entire world can already be found in your city?

Le clip de la version instrumentale de « Kalimbalism » d’Orouni a été entièrement réalisé à Paris, en stop-motion. Il met en scène plus de 40 lieux dont le style architectural ou décoratif paraît éloigné d’une allure purement française : pagode chinoise, temple indien, ancien hammam, bulbes russes… La Ville Lumière semble avoir ingéré ces nombreuses influences extérieures, tel le voyageur évoqué dans la chanson, qui commence à absorber tout ce qu’il peut en terre étrangère à défaut de pouvoir en rapporter des images. Avec ses centaines de photos, la vidéo de « Kalimbalism » est donc d’une certaine façon la revanche de ce personnage. Ce « petit tour » effectué intra muros est aussi la conclusion logique de l’album Grand Tour, pour lequel ont été enregistrées 14 chansons consacrées à autant de destinations qui avaient fourni des instruments de musique servant à arranger chaque morceau. Car pourquoi voyager quand le monde entier est déjà présent dans la cité ?
