Orchestra da Tre Soldi ("The Three Penny Orchestra") is an Italian ensemble, active since 2002 and formed by musicians with careers in Jazz, ethnic/folk and classical music, working with big names of international music like Riccardo Muti, Milva, Orchestra Sinfonica della RAI, Sinfonica di Sanremo, and of the Italian jazz like Furio di Castri and Gabriele Mirabassi.
Our idea of music is based on contamination between modern Jazz language, classic and folk music (mainly Kletzmer, Gipsy, Fado and Brazilian), with many original compositions in a fresh style and exciting renditions of songs from Kurt Weill, Tom Jobim and others.
All that in an enjoyable and entertaining way: we address to the public with humour, reaching the goal to propose very good music while keeping the public excited.
Orchestra da Tre Soldi has toured the whole Italy in the last years, and a bit of Europe too (Sibiu and Bucharest, twice in 2010 in Romania).
Our cd "Orchestra da Tre Soldi" (Dodicilune / IRD, 2007) was appointed twice Best CD in the 2008 ranking of the Best Jazz magazine Jazz Magazine.
