The brainchild of Holding Back Entirely (HBE) frontman Nikolaus Schuhbeck, the group was formed as an antidote to years of loud rock’n roll, 4 albums, and years in the trenches. Hungry for a change in attitude, Nikolaus assembled a posse of friends and lovers, named them The Avalanches, and quickly earned a solid following within the Brooklyn Alt-Country/Americana scene.

The Avalanches’ home turf, 68 Jay Street bar in Dumbo, continuously hosts them for long, drawn out multi-set barnburners, and the quartet has appeared in selected venues around NYC, such as the Jalopy Theatre, Superfine and The Bitter End.

True to their pirate spirit, The Avalanches have no web presence to date, but are in the process of writing their first album of original songs.
