Shannon Sanders has always had a passion for the stage. As an independent artist ("Outta Nowhere" 1999), musical director for India Arie for over a decade, and part of the creative force along with partner, Drew Ramsey, Shannon is behind chart-topping artists including India Arie (Grammy), Jonny Lang (Grammy), Robert Randolph & the Family Band (Emmy), Nicole C. Mullen (Dove), John Legend, Anthony David, Eric Benet and Marc Broussard just to name a few.

NMAAM has developed an awareness campaign called My Music Matters (TM) that features middle Tennessee executives and influential Nashvillians, along with musicians, artists and community leaders. Participants share their experiences with music, favorite song and how music influenced them, to capture an interesting, thoughtful and reflective conversation showcasing the impact African American musicians have on American culture.
