Eating Disorders song is Deadly Beauty is the theme song for National Eating Disorders Association. Written and sung by Alexa Shea. Download on iTunes: https://itun.es/us/lZ2gfb

Like so many young people with eating disorders, this song is the story of a girl who lost her world so she could be beautiful.

Alexa hopes that the song’s underlying message of "self-love" reaches as many people as possible. Deadly Beauty proceeds will go to those in desperate need of treatment through NEDA Programs.

“I understand the struggles young people have with eating disorders. I hope to be a trail blazer for those who are as lost as I used to be. My journey can't have been in vain. This I know in my heart… and I'm so eager to see what magical goodness is going to unfold from it all! My dreams breathe me, so I know they live." -Alexa Shea

Lyrics
Deadly Beauty
Written by Alexa Shea Falk Johns

Fifteen, so sweet, you'd think but she's got a secret
Made up her mind the day she came
To find out he left

I guess there's another girl
This time blue eyes and blonde hair
She'll do anything to catch his eye
But she knows she'll never compare

Skips school, won't eat, can barely sleep
Takes drastic measures.
Runs seven miles a day in the sun
Wearing a sweater.

She turns the radio on
so no one hears what she's doin'.
Because she's convinced herself
he'll come back to her when she's perfect.

She's just a girl who doesn't know
She's already beautiful.
One year ago if you had seen her
You would never know.
This would be her only out for every time she's broken down
And hates herself
For everything that's wrong in life, looks in the mirror to criticize
She'd rather be beautiful than alive.

Nineteen one shrink two times a week
But nothings changing.
Mom cries at night, for her life
'cause she knows she is fading

She's tried to turn around
But she's too far in the wrong direction.
It wasn't supposed to be this way
All she wanted was, some attention.

She's just a girl who doesn't know
She's already beautiful.
Five years ago if you had seen her
You would never know.
This would be her only out for every time she's broken down
And hates herself
For everything that's wrong in life, looks in the mirror to criticize
She'd rather be beautiful than alive.

Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh
Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh

Twenty-three now she's buried
Underneath red roses.
I'm gonna miss her and I hope
Someone learns from this.

Maybe she's happy now
Maybe she's finally free
From not feeling good enough
And maybe she's rid of her disease.

She's just a girl who doesn't know
She's already beautiful.
Seven years ago if you had seen her
You would never know.
This would be her only out for every time she's broken down
And hates herself
For everything that's wrong in life, looks in the mirror to criticize
She'd rather be beautiful than alive.
