New gem from a 20yr old VHS tape.

1994 DMB videos are extremely rare. Prior to this tape there were only three 1994 Dave Matthews (band) videos out there. 2/11/94 (massively cut up), 4/30/94 (song clips from Jazzfest), and Dave solo 8/10/94 at Blockbuster Music.

This show took place about a month before the Under The Table And Dreaming release.

Thanks to @syf4208 for getting in touch and tracking down the source. His uncle was a bootleg filmer/trader in the 80s/90s and received this one from an employee at the Muse around the time.

The tape itself was in storage in New England for at least 10yrs dealing w/ temperature changes. All things considered it held up pretty well. The color is limited but that happens a lot with VHS tapes at this point. I did a number of trials with two different VHS decks as well as a DV-Passthrough capture and a Dazzle device capture. HiFI audio off the tape was much better overall than the extremely rough analog tape in circulation (2006 Adam Nelson).

Ants Marching is mostly cut. SP-mode tape ran out at 2hrs. This source is 1st gen.

Capture (ProDeck+Dazzle)/QTGMC(Slower) Deinterlace/Minor Rotation fix(removed bottom VHS noise w/ that). NeatVideo3.2 for vid noise removal/minor sharpening. Removed fairly heavy crackling in the audio high end (Izotope RX4/Decrackling in specific sections/freqs).

The full setbreak was on the tape. I left a minute of it to give an idea of what it was like.

I'm always interested in pre-2005 VHS/8mm/Digi8/MiniDV Dave Matthews Band videos that may not be in circulation. If you ever filmed DMB in the camcorder days or think you have unique audio/video that you'd be willing to share get in touch.

The following night (8/2/94) was on the same VHS tape and is now posted at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDdBJe8kPWM
