PUBLISHED:  Apr 07, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
Koos (Jacobus Adriaan Gerhardus) Ras was born on 5 August 1928 near Standerton. He was famously known as a comedian, singer, composer, writer and businessman. He recorded 14 LPs, including Spoke ("Ghosts") and Lekker ou braaivleis aand ("Pleasant barbecue evening"). Although most of his music was in Afrikaans, he also recorded a few songs in English.

In 1971, he opened his business "Kempton Orrel en Klavier Sentrum" (Kempton Organ and Piano Centre). Ras and his wife Bea supplied music instruments and music tuition books to schools, churches and private individuals.

He died on 17 April 1997.

My father bought this LP (K-O-O-S ! Ras) in the mid to late 1960s, but I could find no reference to the exact date of release.
