MANNI MONTANA

Dating back to the 80's, Vienna's Manni Montana made his musical premiere playing bass guitar in projects focusing on a variety of sounds including industrial, punk, noise pop and rock. Showing his versatility in the different realms and genres of music, he continued to explore new technical alternatives in order to create original and fresh new sounds.
In the early 90's, Montana succeeded in fulfilling his aspirations when he experimented with breaks and beatloops, integrating these sounds into his tracks.
As former half of the underground electronic duo, BASK, Montana confirmed his accomplishments with the release of several of his tracks on Spray Records. He then continued to garner respect and success with „Soundtrack Area EP" (2001) and „Walking Jazzman EP" (2002) on Dope Noir Records.
His tracks were well received by the public, earning him positive reviews in relevant scene magazines.
His tracks were also found on DJ playlists and independent radio stations worldwide.
Montana's experimentation with new sounds in the different realms available in the electronic music scene proclaimed his success as a profoundly accomplished and powerfully innovative artist of the underground.
Manni Montana's multifaceted disposition leads to his avid involvement in the many areas that constitute the production of music. Montana composes, deejays, produces, remixes for other projects, and also creates sound installations and soundtracks for stage plays and experimental avant-garde films.
His alacrity to explore all areas has not only established him as a merger of musical genres, but also a bridge between music and independent film.
Regarding rhythm and sound as a part of some infinite universe, Manni Montana enjoys moving freely between the innumerable styles available.
Using Breakbeats, Dub Grooves, surreal-seeming sound structures and abstract electronics along with his background in punk, post-punk, rock and industrial, Montana creates an insurmountable hybrid of sound characterized by its eclectic range and endless limits.



Manni Montana - along with internationally famed female DJ Sweet Susie (Dub Club Vienna, femous) - founded the experimental Project CONTACT and the Digital Labels „PRIVATE PLEASURE RECORDINGS" and "LA PLACE RECORDS"…To be continued.
