Production started by George Harrison, but Todd Rundgren completed George's four tracks and Todd produced/mixed the whole LP. Two hits from it were "Day After Day" and "Baby Blue." Truth was, this was actually a gold selling album, but it was never announced as one, and it would have likely been a Top Ten on Billboard charts instead of Top Thirty, but with Allen Klein running Apple Records at the time he illegally supplied out the U.S. Badfinger albums and other non-Beatles Apple artists for under the table deals to corrupt distributors - thus keeping droves of the Badfinger sales off the books, as Klein pocketed money and Straight Up lost some chart rankings. Klein was busted for this scam later on. Though he did some good deals for people, he was a crook at heart and who knows all that he got away with.
