Werewolves of London - The DeadBeats June 2015 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jun 29, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
Although this seems like a simple novelty tune and almost a one-hit wonder for Warren Zevon from 1978, it has some interesting connections. Song writing is credited to LeRoy Marinell, Waddy Wachtel, and Warren Zevon. Waddy, being one of the greatest session guitarists of all time generated the distinctive guitar sound (his pedigree includes The Everly Brothers, Jackson Browne, Kim Carnes, Rosanne Cash, Bob Dylan, Melissa Etheridge, Bryan Ferry, Don Henley, Carole King, Miranda Lambert, Randy Newman, Iggy Pop, Bonnie Raitt, Keith Richards, Linda Ronstadt, Bob Seger, Carly Simon, The Rolling Stones, James Taylor, and Tom Waits). Waddy was accompanied on the original recording by drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie of Fleetwood Mac. So we essentially played three Fleetwood Mac tunes in 2015! We also did Melissa Etherridge's 'Bring Me Some Water' as an encore song in 2015 which notably features Waddy's guitar work. Anyway, it's funny how we are drawn to music influenced by a relatively small group of musicians. We played this song mostly for fun for several years now and thought it was about time we include it in our performance. It was followed by a song about Zombies. Draw blood! Hah! Watch Boomer make sure his hair is perfect. And the Queen is walking with her latest great-grandchild Charlotte Elizabeth.
