Take this 33-year old girl. She’s no longer a girl of course, but she has the same uninhibited look on life. Give her a guitar, a golden throat and buckets of charme. Et voilà: that’s Leine.

Leine writes about everyday life and special discoveries. She takes you onto a lyrical and musical adventure filled with emotions, variety and humour. A powerful, warm voice with a jazzy twist, strong melodies and interesting compositions. “Refreshing and wayward. Leine’s simply special. Period.”, is what VPRO’s Dutch music channel 3voor12 writes about her.

In 2008 Leine appeared on National TV several times, played at different big Dutch festivals like the North Sea Jazz Festival, Oerol and Lowlands. Currently she’s working on her theatre show with popular Dutch poet Ingmar Heytze.

Press reviews on Leine's latest album "Truth Be Told":

Volkskrant (Gijsbert Kamer): "Amsterdam based singersongwriter Leine can't be classified in any genre. Her songs are light as a feather and her lyrics are filled with amazement about dayly life. All arrangements are very original. Leines playfullness can be compared to the early work of Fay Lovsky. She has the same musical talent and the urge to do things differently. Jazz, pop and folk flow together in this magical music with pleasant weightlessness . Leine's found a unique sound with this album."

OOR (Jan van der Plas): "A fantastic album that clings to you for a long time."

VPRO’s 3voor12 (Rens vd Boogaard): "Leines voice and guitarplay are subtle and convincing as always. The diversity in her live performance can definitely be rediscovered in this album. She’s found her own sound somewhere between classical songwriter songs, jazz and chansons. This record fits the present wintry weather, but could just as easily be the soundtrack for the coming spring.

Truth Be Told is the next step in Leines undeniable march to the top. An album that is clearly made out of love for music with an unique sound that differences Leine from other singersongwriters."

AD: “This late bloomer creates her own, authentic sound from other sources: jazz, latin, vaudeville and chanson. Her voice has a hint of Fay Lovsky, and she serves us a rich album with atmospheres from romantic and funny to sultry and virulent. Her instrumental approach shows us her love for composing: accordion, theremin and violins, they pleasantly lift her unworldly songs to a high level constantly .”

LiveXS (Miguel Thannhauser): "Leines music sounds very accessible, but that doesn’t mean it’s shallow, on the contrary. In her lyrics Leine’s animated, wether she writes about weddings and taxmen or when she gets more personal (like in River or Shimmer). Match this with her sincere appearance on stage and there’s nothing other to conlude than that Leine’s a special songwriter talent within the Dutch music scene. Truth Be Told confirms this on all fronts and proves real talent still has a place in this world filled with artificial artists. Cherish!!"
