What are good warm up practices for piano? - Video
PUBLISHED:  May 13, 2017
DESCRIPTION:
Here is my suggestion for a warm up practice:

C major scale program
- Legato scales, 4 octaves, hands separately
- Legato scale, 4 octaves, hands together
- Legato contrary-motion scale
- Slow and fast staccato scales, hands separately, 2 (or 4) octaves
- Staccato scale, 4 octaves, hands together
- Scale a third apart
- Scale a sixth apart
- Legato scale in thirds
- Block chords, followed by broken chords, hands separately
- Broken scales together
- Arpeggios, in root position, first and second inversions, hands separately and together

All scales' all full routines should be known (but the scale in thirds).
Recommend order: C major, A minor, G major, E minor, D major, B minor, A major, F sharp minor, E major etc.
One full routine of the relevant scale for each week. When all major and minor scales have finished, we start from C major again.

Happy piano playing,
