LDA is an exceptional act in the Reggaeton scene - they look and sound unlike any other artists currently working in the world's hottest genre. For one, they are the only duo to feature both a male and female lead vocalist, seamlessly integrating baby physco's aggressive freestylin' skills with counterpart Orquedea Negra's smooth romantic stylings. For another, they are the only Reggaeton act can claim to be of American origin. Though they are both of Dominican descent, the duo were raised in New York City, influenced significantly more by artists the likes of Tu-Pac, Nas, and Busta Rymes, as opposed to the more traditional latin music that currently defines the genre - they have come to reinvent it.

LDA brings a new approach to Reggaeton, one honed on the underground of the New York club scene. Their version of reggaeton is equal parts Latin Hip-Hop, East Coast Rap, Sexy Sultry Vocals and even Twinges of Electronica. Together, the pair have achieved a sound so unique amongst their peers, it earned them honors as personal proteges to Reggaeton's most esteemed producer, Boy Wonder, who spotlighted them in his landmark Chosen Few: El Documental CD/DVD Documentary - and who already has them set to be the featured act for his highly-anticipated Chosen Few 2.

Baby Physco and Negra sowed the intial seeds of LDA seven years ago at a series of regular High School freestylin' competitions in New York. The duo first met as opponents, but formed an immediate connection and teaming with four other contest regulars - started a six line-up of LDA.

LDA (a.k.a. "L.D.A." or "Los Dementes Algarete" - "The Crazy Crazies") was the name chosen by Physco, who proceeded to then add "Baby" prefix to his own moniker, indicating his having "Given Birth" to the group.

A serendipitous set of connected acquaintances first brought Baby Physco together with Boy Wonder. The noted producer was immediately awestruck by Physco's natural skills and offered to sign him to his Chosen Few / Emerald Entertainment label on the spot. Physco agreed, but with one condition - "If He Wanted Physco, He Had To Take The Whole Squad."

While Boy Wonder did nactually sign the six-piece version of LDA, four of those six would fall off over the next four years for various personal reasons. But the bond and chemistry between Physco and Negra that had initially sparked the band held strong, leaving the duo as the definitive line-up of LDA. The novel Male-Female combo also set the stage for the unprecesented dynamic that would distinguish LDA from every other Reggaeton act.

The Chosen Few project was LDA's first big breakthrough, prominently featuring four of the duo's songs on the milestone CD/DVD combo and further providing them with the opportunity to a remix a fifth, Don Omar's global rallying anthem, "Reggaeton Latino." It also contains their duo track, "Flossy," which - with its blantant electronica overtones - may be the most extraordinarily unorthodox song produced within the bounds of the Reggaeton genre.

LDA's best-known song from Chosen Few, "Hoy," marked their first smash single (hitting the top 5 on R&B's Latin Club Chart), as well as pairing them with another hot rising reggaeton star, Checka. LDA and Checka would both go on to make a slash in the hugely-popular El Draft 2005 competition, conceived by esteemed genre prooducer Chencho - half of famed duo, Plan B, and also alumni of The Chosen Few. According to Boy Wonder, Chencho wanted LDA's track, "Estoy En Mi Cama," for his new project so badly, "he even let me co-produce El Draft just to get it!"

LDA have developed a unified philosophy for their music of open-mindedness, daring experimentalism and the incorporation of differing cultrual influences - all while still keeping Reggaeton's essence at heart - and framed by what Physco describes as "A New York In-Your-Face Hip-Hop Attitude." LDA's success from the Chosen Few juggernaut led to hot Collaborations with Reggaeton icons including N.O.R.E., Fat Joe and Zion & Lennox. And, of course, they are a featured act in Boy Wonder's Highly-anticipated Chosen Few 2 project. Two of their singles have already hit the charts from Chosen Few 2. The first single they worked closely with Zion y Lennox in "Te Invitan Al Party" and the second single is the highly noted crossover "Freakytona" remix that features Plan B, Trick Daddy, and Trina. Finally, LDA will take time to record their eagerly-awaited debut album CD, with highly-impressive roster of guest artists for which is being kept tightly under wraps.

In the meantime, Negra has earned a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. Physco remembers, "the final leg of the Chosen Few Tour was during Negra's Finals, she would literally fly out to do all the weekend shows, then fly right back and take her exams. She was amazing."

LDA is determined to force a path for themselfs within the Reggaeton and Latin Hip-Hop movement. With Negra's intrest in Electronica and Experimental music and Physco's exploration of "Spanglish" in his own rymes and beats, the two are constanly pushing boundaries of Reggaeton and Latin hip-Hop movement.
