Multi-platinum and award winning music & film producer, Manuel Alejandro Ruiz, is a visionary that has been recognized as a pioneer in the rise of Latin Urban music. Better known to his friends and fans as Boy Wonder "Chosen Few", he still remains at the forefront of the genre.
Developing a style that was influenced by a variety of music ranging from the traditional "Merengue" of Dominican Republic to The Beatles, Michael Jackson and most of all Hip-Hop, Boy Wonder saw Latin Urban music as the perfect avenue to showcase his talent. After a trip to Dominican Republic in 1999, he started his own production company, Chosen Few Emerald Entertainment, in hopes to take the Latin Urban genre to new levels.
As CEO & executive producer of Chosen Few Emerald Entertainment, Boy Wonder has indeed brought Latin Urban music to new heights and put Chosen Few Emerald Entertainment on the map as a powerhouse within the industry. He produced a trilogy of CD/DVD projects that gave the genre the mainstream visibility it deserved. Chosen Few: El Documental, brought audiences to the core of the underground movement giving them an overall sense of the culture with footage of packed concert halls, insightful interviews, and much more. It went double platinum and spent months in the Top 5 of Billboard's Latin sales chart. In 2006, he released Chosen Few: El Documental II, which captured the rise of Latin Urban second generation and in 2008 he released the final chapter of the trilogy Chosen Few III: "The Movie".
Boy Wonder is also one of the hottest producers of remixes in the Latin Urban market. One of his first successful projects was the remix of Shakira's "Mi Vida". Initially most couldn't understand his vision or the direction he wanted to take the song in and he was met with great resistance when he approached the label and management with his idea. Despite this, he remixed the single and brought it to radio and club DJs, who without hesitation put the song into rotation. It immediately became an underground smash hit.
Since then, Boy Wonder has continued to leave his mark with his remix productions, such as Bob Marley's "Keep On Moving" (Chosen Few Remix); the Reggaeton hit remix "Eso Ehh" featuring Alexis y Fido, Chingo Bling & Joell Ortiz; and the remix of "Hello Mama" featuring Hector El Father & Jim Jones. He creates one classic after another with some of the highest caliber of artists.
Boy Wonder is the man behind the production of the monumental single "Reggaeton Latino" (Chosen Few Remix) featuring Fat Joe, N.O.R.E., LDA and Don Omar, one of the biggest Reggaeton/ Latin Urban crossover tracks in history. It spent 44 weeks at the top of the Billboard charts, became RIAA certified Double Platinum, and won Billboard's "Latin Compilation of the Year".
Boy also took Plan B's "Frikitona" and gave it a major hip-hop twist by adding Trick Daddy and Trina to the track; a combination many might find unusual, but proved to work well. The collaboration was a display of Boy's extraordinary ability to bridge the worlds of Latin Urban music with Hip-Hop successfully, a feat most had deemed impossible.
In addition, he has worked with Grammy-award winning and living legend Alejandro Sanz, transforming "A La Primera Persona", a top 5 on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs Chart, into a groundbreaking Reggaeton record that featured Reychesta Secret Weapon.
Another amazing international hit remix produced by Boy Wonder, is "Mi Alma Se Muere" (Remix) featuring Fuego, Pitbull and Omega. The track, which received tremendous radio spins nationally, spent over 24 weeks on the Billboard charts.
The remixes of "Reggaeton Latino", "Frikitona", "A La Primera Persona" and "Mi Alma Se Muere" were also found on Boy Wonder's Chosen Few Remix Classico's. which debuted March 24, 2009 through One Records, the all-star compilation featured the likes of Rakim Ken-Y, Pitbull, Omega, Arcangel y De La Geto, Zion y Lennox Angel Dose, Tempo, Joell Ortiz, as well as Chosen Few artists Fuego, LDA, Getto and Reychesta Secret Weapon and many more.
Boy Wonder's most recent success has been his amazingly talented and diverse artist Fuego. Fuego is currently a rising star in the Latin Tropical/Urban genre. Fuego's album "La Musica Del Futuro" debuted at #1 on i-Tunes and appeared on the Billboard top 10 charts at its debut and the weeks and months following. His biggest singles from that album include "Super Estrella" feat Omega, and the song phenomenon ""Que Buena Tu Ta" which remains on the Billboard charts. Fuego has been featured on such esteemed shows as "Sabado Gigente," and nominated and performed at the prestigious 2011 "Premios Lo Nuestro" and has appeared on "El Gordo y La Flaca, Mun2, MTV tr3s just to name a few. Fuego has also performed around the world doing concerts, festivals, and club performances. Currently Fugeo's music is in rotation on many radio and Television markets throughout the country and abroad. Fuego is currently heavily involved in the exciting expansion of the rising sound, Latin Urban Tropical "Mambo" and embarked this past Julyon a national 12-city tour sponsored by Metro PCS.Fuego's debut album, aptly named "La Musica Del Futuro"-- A CD/DVDcombo which debuted in August 2010.
As one of the leaders for producing remixes in the Latin Urban Genre and discovering and cultivating talent, Boy Wonder explains, "I love making musics whether it be a new or remix. I love making good music. I also believe a remix can add a new flare and give life to a record in its own way. It can help turn a Hit into a Classic."
"IT'S NOT ABOUT MAKING A HIT, IT'S ABOUT MAKING A CLASSIC"
BOY WONDER.
