A socially conscious songwriter whose inspired by his life experiences and influenced by the world around him is who Jose Collado a.k.a. Reychesta is. Being an MC and a street-battling connoisseur he creates versatility not only with his words, but also with his distinctive method of writing. Using a black and red ink to create an exceptional sense of flow he begins to create a vibe for his fans to envision. At the age of 26 he’s lived a life that’s made him stronger and resolute to become a dominant figure in Latin Hip-Hop.
In his native land of Domincan Republic he was enrolled in a performing arts school at the age of five. There he’d learn how to play instruments like piano, guitar, and the saxophone. However, where he’d learn how to freestyle would be by being around his family relatives who would sing merengue typico at gatherings. At six, he was brought to a high school class for show and tell. That day he overcame his stage freight, but also discovered he could sing. At nine years old his whole life changed when his mother brought him to Corona Queens in New York.

In the mist of all the drastic changes occurring in his life, he began to focus solely on music. He was completely submerged to the hip-hop world in the states. In the streets he became known as Reychesta. Rey for King and Chesta is what molesters are typically called. Jose always had a hard time giving up his microphone, so he became known as Rey Chesta the mic molesta. While still trying to keep his head in the game, he also worked at a Spanish radio station, as a part-time on air personality and would freestyle on the morning show. While working on the radio station he began to meet people and started networking. He started traveling back and forth from Puerto Rico to the states, to record tracks and perform at underground clubs.

In Puerto Rico he came across DJ Playero. One of the forefront DJ’s of Reggaeton and Latin Hip-Hop in PR. Playero liked Reychesta’s style and would find solid beats for Reychesta to work with. One night at the studio, Reychesta met Tempo. One of the all time greatest Rappers of the genre. Tempo took notice of Reychesta’s style and found it to be unique. That same night Tempo collaborated on a track with Reychesta titled “Narcotraficantes”. After recording the track he became completely focused on music, and decided it was time to go back to New York.

Back in New York he becomes part of a group named Tres Coronas.
Although, Reychesta was part of Tres Coronas and they were constantly traveling, he still wanted to remain fresh in the states. Whenever his group members weren’t available to perform, he’d still go and represent his group.

A person that Reychesta worked closely with was billboard-winning producer Boy Wonder. Boy Wonder was always asking Reychesta to participate in events in NY. He convinced him to be on his project El Documental, and while on tour for promotions on Chosen Few, he decided to sign a management deal and a solo record deal with them. Meanwhile, his relationship with Tres Coronas began to deteriorate. He thought the best thing for him was to leave the group, and continue his journey on his own.

With all his adversities, he uses his personal life as motivation and inspiration to keep struggling in the music industry. Boy Wonder feels “Reychesta Secret Weapon” is a poetic storyteller, with his lyrics he can draw a picture that his listeners can envision. He lives, eats, and breathes the culture of hip-hop. He’s what the genre’s been waiting for, a person whose raw and uncut”. Reychesta has also worked with artists like Alejandro Sanz and one of the most recognized Reggaeton duo Winsin Y Yandel “Atrevete” Chosen Few remix, he’ll also be featured on other Chosen Few artist’s albums like LDA, Fuego, and Getto’s aswell as other productions. He’s been working diligently on his album. “Las Tres Caras de La Muerte”, it’s expected to be released in 2007. He feels his mission is to bring a positive message and awareness through his music. “The album isn’t about living in the streets and about females, it’s about my upbringing as a kid, my life experiences. It’s a way for me to give insight on my life and express my views on the good and the bad in society.”
