SouthsideJohnny & Springsteen (Agora '78)Listening to the multitrack recording w/ Producer MikeBrown - Video
PUBLISHED:  Dec 25, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
Had a chance to sit down with Lava Room Recording Studio owner and music producer extraordinaire Mike Brown, and pull up the original multi-track recording of the August 1978 Southside Johnny show at the Agora which was being filmed for the debut television episode of Onstage At The Agora . Bruce Springsteen, Steven Van Zandt, Gary Tallent, and Clarence Clemons join Southside Johnny onstage after playing a sold out show at nearby Richfield Coliseum earlier that same night. This legendary encore performance never aired due to the wishes of Southside Johnny's management who didn't want to give people the impression Southside Johnny was riding the coat tails of Bruce. Listening and seeing the footage from that night, or anyone who has seen SSJ perform live knows firsthand that he didn't need to ride anyone's coat tails, including his good friend Bruce Springsteen.
