Excerpt from "Gypsy Jazz Rhythm with Denis Chang Vol.2"

This excerpt is from the "Interaction" chapter which focuses on musicality when accompanying. Making use of dynamics, ornaments, and specific voicings in a non-invasive manner to elevate the soloist. The song is "After You've Gone"

Includes full transcriptions in TAB and standard notation.

These lessons are based on almost 15 years of researching the style of Django Reinhardt and spending time with the Sinti (Gypsies of Western Europe) to learn the music from their point of view. Volume 2 picks up where volume 1 left off. Now that you've worked on all the basic techniques, we focus on all the important but often overlooked aspects of Gypsy Jazz accompaniment: timing, tone, dynamics, interaction, etc. Many players are often confused by contradicting statements by various leading players, with regards to Gypsy Jazz rhythm; this lesson hopes to clear any confusion one may have about all things related to accompaniment. We cover all sorts of important subtleties that will turn you into a true accompanist, rather than a robotic rhythm machine!
