Rhythm Guitar: Will Dickerson

Excerpt from "Gypsy Jazz Guitar Technique" with Denis Chang.

A number of selections from the 90 playing examples from the Gypsy Jazz Guitar Technique. The examples including picking patterns, ornaments, licks over chords and chord progressions, etc. Everything you need to know to become a jazz manouche technique master!

Includes full transcriptions in TAB and standard notation.

These lessons are based on almost 15 years of researching the style of Django Reinhardt and spending time with the Sinti (Gypsies of Western Europe) to learn the music from their point of view. Gypsy Jazz Technique focuses on all the technical aspects related to the Gypsy Jazz genre; both left hands and right hands are covered in great detail. No stone is left uncovered; everything you wanted to know about technique in the Gypsy Jazz style is covered! If you have ever wondered about the picking technique used by the top Gypsy players, this lesson is for you. Furthermore, we also cover some of the important and subtle ornaments used by famous Gypsy players; these ornaments are so subtle, that most players including professional musicians outside the Sinti community are often not even aware of them! This lesson is purely technical in nature, but all examples are taken directly from the idiom. We will use actual musical examples to work on our technique, instead of practicing mindless exercises. Includes a section on vocabulary over various chords, chord progressions and endings.
