Sometimes you don't need words to tell a story.

This song is inspired from a visit to Charlottetown, P.E.I (Eastern Coast of Canada) where I walked around to the front of an old lighthouse near the water, and looked out for miles, and miles at the endless ocean. The water surrounding me was from a small Bay that stretched from the shore, through a narrow Channel, into the ocean. I took it to represent exactly 'Where I was' in my life at the time. Leaving the familiar waters, and the safety of the shore to venture out into the vast, possibilities of the ocean...

Then, once I picked up my guitar, I had the image of a new child being born into the world, as an old man lies on his deathbed, slowly taking his last few breaths. It was similar to the above concept in that an old life was about to end, as a new one began. The last part of the song is where his life vividly flashes before his eyes, and then all of a sudden - his time comes, and his heartbeat slowly fades the track out to stillness...

Life & Death.

The Channel - The point of transition.

"There is more around us, and within us than our senses will ever allow us to perceive, and it can be heard, seen, felt, and brought to life....through the voice of art"
