Over a frying pan sizzling and sauteing fresh cut home fries you witness more than just your ordinary housewife preparing her families nutritional consumption to start their morning off properly. The hum of the vegetable oil heating underneath the flames gentle kisses does no justice to the sound blaring out of a small mp3 player. Neither does any vocal remnants of speech that occupy the space even compare to the soft mumbling of her latest hit. Nor does one realize the focus on her brow as she rewrites each syllable through trial and error until success becomes visually apparent. Kimberly "Kizzi" McCorkle embodies the very essence of what it means to be a woman in today's society and using her own life experiences she constructs various truths into music that is timeless to sex or culture. Imitation is considered to be the greatest form of flattery and lately in the industry there have been a lot of compliments given out. Kimberly "Kizzi" McCorkle has been silently taking notes on the music industry and only decided to enter headfirst once she had an understanding of the commitment necessary to be successful. Kizzi is the oldest of 3 sisters and at often times had to be the leader; the only exception being when her two older cousins were showing her the ropes. Growing up in different parts of the Mon Valley and eventually settling within the Pittsburgh city limits shows this young aspiring women's ability to adapt to any situation and habitat. "I get my strength from my mom watching her provide for her family after my father was incarcerated really motivated me to be family oriented and made me strive for success says the 23 yr. old Pisces. Kimberly prides herself in the fact that her music speaks for any regular woman trying to uplift herself and maintain in life on a daily basis. "When I make a record it has got to be based on some truth and I think that's where a lot of females and even males for that matter in this industry go wrong; says Ms. McCorkle. To thine own self be true is a philosophy that has manifested itself into her soul and epically into her creativity within constructing musical progressions. Kizzi gets her musical grassroots from an uncommon link in many of today's top mainstream artists; she wrote poetry. During classes she could be seen staring off into the distance formulating her very thoughts into verbal masterpieces. Using poetry as the paradigm Kizzi has been able to deliver inspirational messages, take us to the clubs, and journey with her through life and it's ups and downs. Poetry has definitely honed her ability as a master wordsmith; so to speak and ensured her lyrical content is one that is built on solid soil. "When I'm writing I don't even try to rhyme I'm trying to complete my story and stay on concept; says the First Lady." Recently, Ms. McCorkle has released her first mixtape and has been receiving great reviews from people of all walks of life. A lot of women in the tri state area record music, burn Cd's, and perform in her opinion but it takes a special women to invest in self and to continue everyday to strive for the next level. She believes she possess the natural ambition and business savvy more so than many others and that in turn led to the title of her mixtape "First Lady." The CD was constructed as a story and all of the songs are chapters if you will that you go through.
