John Howard - Blue Days (1991) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Apr 16, 2017
DESCRIPTION:
'Blue Days' was written and demo'd by John Howard in 1991, during the twenty year period (1984 - 2004) of not releasing any of his own material. However, this demo was heard by British TV presenter and recording artist Des 'O'Connor who recorded the song for his 1992 Sony album, 'Portrait'.

"I wasn't recording much at all during the '90s apart from occasional forays into the studio at the invitation of friends. I was though writing songs for other artists, such as Stages Of Love for Les Miserables star Dave Willetts and Footlights for Blood Brothers star Stephanie Lawrence. But when Des O'Connor, who then had his own ITV chat show with an audience of nine million, rang me to tell me he'd heard my demo of Blue Days and wanted to record it for his new album, I was of course thrilled.

"It was on his 1992 album 'Portrait', which went Silver and reached the UK album charts, and Des released his version of 'Blue Days' as his Christmas '92 single, and just missed entering the UK charts with it when it peaked at No.76!

"It was the nearest a song of mine came to hitting the UK singles charts!" - JH

John Howard's recording of 'Blue Days' is now on the compilation 'Creating Impressions - Singles & Rarities' as well as on the JH Best Of 'These Fifty Years'. Both are available to download from all good download stores. The CD 'These Fifty Years - The Best of John Howard' is now available to buy direct from John's website, kidinabigworld.co.uk
