DESCRIPTION:
John William Harmston (1822-81) was a British composer, who studied in the UK with William Sterndale Bennett, and emigrated to Lübeck, Germany in 1848 where he married a German, and became a music teacher. Although he wrote instrumental sonatas, he was best-known for his drawing-room pieces like this one published in 1869 (information taken from the website http://www.jwharmston.com/page6.html ).
