Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan are among those making history this week in music!

April 28 1987, Tony Bennett's "The Art of Excellence" was the first compact disc of an album released before its vinyl version.

April 29 1976, After a gig in Memphis, Bruce Springsteen took a cab to Elvis Presley's Graceland home. When no one answered the bell, Bruce proceeded to climb over the wall and was apprehended by a security guard. Elvis had apparently left the building!

April 30 1933, Born on this day, American treasure, Willie Nelson. Willie is a singer-songwriter, as well as an author, poet, actor, and activist. Happy Birthday Willie!

May 1 1970, The Jimi Hendrix Experience played the first of 13 US shows this month when they appeared at the Milwaukee Auditorium. Tickets were $4.00, $4.50, and $5.50

May 2 1957, Elvis Presley recorded the Leiber and Stoller song 'Jailhouse Rock' for the movie of the same name. In the movie, Mike Stoller had a small role as a piano player. 'Jailhouse Rock' later became the first song to debut at #1 in Great Britain.

May 3 2009, Bob Dylan went to No.1 on the UK album chart with 'Together Through Life' his seventh UK No.1 album and first since 1970's "New Morning." Dylan now held the record, (previously held by Tom Jones), for the longest gap between solo number one albums.

May 4 1996, Rage Against The Machine's 'Evil Empire' is released and debuts at No.1 on the US album chart. The album won the 1996 Grammy award for Best Metal Performance.
